Daily Update (3/26/25) - More tutorial work


Daily Update - March 26th, 2025

Hey all! Pretty short update today on my end. Today I focused on expanding the in-game tutorial that isn't yet available to the public, and got most of the way through explaining what a Customer is, what Items are, how to Sell an Item, and what the consequences of selling an Item are.

There's still a good chunk of work to go on the first Market Day tutorial section, including:

  • Satisfying customer preferences via sold item types
  • Combining items
  • Rummaging Cards
  • Restocking Cards
  • Buy Items from customers.

As well as making sure that the first market day proceeds more or less non-randomly so that the tutorial makes sense. After all that's done, I can move on to teaching the Sales Day Rewards Screen, Customer Base Screen, and finally Redecoration. So yeah, lotta work! Might take me the better part of a further week of work probably, but I think it'll be a real nice intro for new players, which will be super necessary once I make this pre-alpha public to itch.io. So, long story short, no functional changes in the public build today, but here's a changelog regardless!

  • Work in Progress: Added an explanation of how to sell items to the tutorial and an explanation of what happens after you sell an item.
  • Work in Progress: Added a skip in the tutorial to skip the Top Bar explanation in the Calendar tutorial.
  • Work in Progress: Set up some more internals to allow the tutorial Market Days to proceed in a non-random way
