Daily Update (7/09/25) - Run Starting Bonus Updates


Daily Update - July 9th 2025

Hi all! Today I got a bit more into the weeds on the run starting bonus event and redesigned it a little to be a bit more consistent about what's offered to players. 

Now, the first option will always give a small bonus related to cards (adding, removing, transforming, etc.) the second option will be a non-card related small bonus, and the final option will be a large bonus that comes with a drawback. 

I set up that 3rd option to choose the upside and downside semi-randomly, so you should get some pretty interesting choices. This is all pretty inspired by the Slay the Spire starting event in that game, but I'm a fan of how that gives a bit of variety to each run, so I had some fun implementing a similar system for Raccoons to Riches. It's fairly robust now, so I'm gonna call that done enough for now, but I'll likely come back to add more bonuses and downsides as I think of a few more.

  • Gameplay: Updated start of run bonus event. Now always provides 1 card-related bonus, one non-card-related bonus, or a powerful choice that comes with a downside
  • Art: Added art for the Business Tutor and Check the Back, and Enchanter's Intuition tactics
  • Bugfix: Fixed the topbar not setting itself correctly when entering a market day via the start run event
  • Bugfix: Fixed the rent payment reduction bonus actually increasing the rent payment on higher difficulties
