Daily Update (3/12/25) - Banning Customers, and a new Customer!
Daily Update - March 12th, 2025
Woo, halfway through the week! Today, I spent the morning doing some more playtesting, and I'm liking how the customer pool building is going, but I noticed that the early game was a bit too easy with a bunch of specialized customers right away, and that you had no use for word of mouth past a certain point (or, at least, you could generate far more than you'd ever need). To address this, I've set the starting pool of customers to just be some local villagers with random preferences, which should make building out your customer base to be more specialized feel a bit more impactful. Also, I've added the ability to ban customers from your customer base. This costs word of mouth, which does some nice double duty as a sink/additional outlet for word of mouth, and lets you shape your customer base a bit more and filter out the riff raff as you see fit. You can mete out bans from the customer pool viewer. Also, I added a new customer since I still want a bunch more customer diversity, which you can read about in the changelog. Here's that log now!
Changelog (v0.10.5)
-----
- New Content: Added a new uncommon Customer: Lumberjack (Only purchases items every other turn. 4 Patience, 3 Influence, prefers Weapons and Potions, Dislikes Armor)
- Gameplay/New Functionality: Customers can now be banned from your customer base at the cost 3x the customer's initial Word of Mouth cost
- Gameplay: Updated the shopkeeper starting customer pool to just be 3 Local Villagers. Other starting villagers were making the early game a bit too easy IMO
- Gameplay: Minor tweaks to starting customer items for sale (there were a few too many daggers in there)
- UI: Made customer status effects much easier to notice (moved them around and made them bigger)
- QoL: Added a recipe for Adventuring Kit (Light Armor + Adventuring Kit)
- QoL: Added a recipe for Heroism Potion (Potion of Defence + Potion of Attack)
- Text: Updated Inventory view title to match what you're actually looking at.
- Bugfix: Fixed crash when changing decorations if neither of them had a counter
- Bugfix: Fixed Enchanter's Table decoration not properly improving the value of potions in your hand
- Bugfix: Fixed buy item button not activating when customers changed in some cases
- Bugfix Fixed some more visual text overrruns in decoration cards
- Bugfix: Fixed the deck pile view not being properly randomized
