Daily Update - Jan 28th, 2025

We reached a nice milestone today! As of now, we have hit the target number of different tactics/mottos needed for me to feel happy with the amount of diversity in card options when picking new tactics! Only took a month or two, haha. With that, playtesting should be a bit easier to grasp how stuff is balanced, so I ran through the game again a bit today, and noticed a couple things I wanna address soonish:

  • Customers and their actions aren't very impactful aside from their preferences.
  • The difficulty curve feels a bit easy in the first week, but a bit brutal by the last week.
  • There are a few strange bugs around the load system after you have a full game completed.

For customers, I'm going to probably spend the next few days doing a customer revamp, so that'll hopefully be a bit more exciting soon.
For the difficulty curve, I'm thinking a slightly different scaling method for the weekly payments
For the bugs, well, I'll just keep fixing those as I see them. Anyway, here's the full changelog for the day!

  • New Content: Added a new rare Shopkeeper tactic: Mega Markup (Doubles your Markup status stacks, exhausts)
  • Gameplay: Combining items now removes them from your starting inventory if they are not restockable
  • Bugfix: Fixed potential crash related to closing the card pile viewer if it was already previously closed.
  • Bugfix: Fixed decorations not thinking they were properly equipped after loading a continued run
  • Bugfix: Fixed Additional Padding tactic being unable to be looked up properly due to a typo in the lookup dict
  • Bugfix: Fixed missing descriptive text on Litter Bin decoration when displayed as a sales day reward option
  • Bugfix: Fixed Frantic Fabrication sometimes crashing the game if there were less than 2 items in hand after the card draw
