Daily Update (7/29/25) - Big gameplay changes!
Daily Update - July 29th, 2025
Hi all! Today I decided to rip the bandage off and make some fairly sweeping game design updates to the core gameplay loop! Here are the major changes:
- The basic items (bread/potion/armor/dagger) are now no longer Restockable. This is significant change! Now, you'll need to re-supply your items much more frequently from the Supply Shoppe, and consider buying Items from Customers more often to make sure you have adequate stocks of items to sell.
- When you craft Items, they'll no longer be Temporary! That means that crafting Items now contributes to your long-term inventory stocks, rather than just being a temporary benefit for the current day. In combination with the Restockable change above, I feel that this will make Items feel much less like generic pieces of cardboard that you exchange for money, and much more like real Items that you're selling to customers and using as materials.
- You no longer automatically go to the Supply Shoppe after each Market Day. Now, you must choose to visit the Supply Shoppe instead of opening up your own shop to the public. This introduces an aspect of Time Management to the game, and provides a source of tension that'll be fun to push against and take into account each day. Do you want to re-supply today? Can you afford to take the time to do so? If you don't, will you stagnate your build?
- Each week now has 7 Days instead of 5. This is to account for having to choose to visit the Supply Shoppe instead of getting to go there every single day. Overall, you'll be seeing fewer Market Days in your own shop, and fewer opportunities to resupply and shop for upgrades and decorations, so I felt that bumping the total days in a week made sense.
Overall, I think these are some pretty interesting changes, and I'll see how they do in playtesting to see if it actually makes the game more fun. I think it's more fun for me personally, but I am still a bit cautious of making the game too difficult from the get-go. I'll make some further adjustments to this almost certainly.
Another nice piece of news is that we now have non-placeholder art for all of the Tactics and Mottos in the Compendium! The game is definitely starting to feel much more complete. All of this together means I think we're ready for the next minor version. Welcome to 0.19.0!

- Bugfix: Fixed Predatory Tactics tactic being playable even if your customer has too little patience
- Misc: Fixed a harmless internal error when starting the Tutorial
